Hunger

The craving subsides,
Retreats to its hibernaculum,
Fat with the fruits of summer.
Her monstrous appetite sated,
She cocoons herself in ice,
Content with juicy memories
Until desire flames again.
It rages,
Burning through the barricades.
She wakes.
She hungers.
She breathes your scent.

Quadrille (44-word poem) written for dVerse Poets Pub  with the keyword a form of hibernate. I tried for a bit of ambiguity here… perhaps it’s about sex or murder. Or maybe cookies. What do you think?
