When I sank into love’s debris,
These soothing brews helped keep me sane.

A promise is no guarantee
Their careless plans will still remain.

Than on the drunken dating train.

Villanelle written for David's W3 challenge. I use "sobriety" in the sense of staying away from the crazy world of dating and apps.
I agree with all of that- except the Iced Tea! Yuk...... ;)

Oh, this has been my refrain at times in my life. And if - heaven forbid - anything were to happen in my current relationship with Prince Charming - I would not start fishing again. Those fish can remain at sea for me, too!!
ReplyDeleteI drink one cup of coffee in the morning. Struggle when I have anything caffeinated later in the day. Have enjoyed hot tea in my past. And a good glass of iced tea, too.
