Behind the Mask

She was a black cat
And not just on Halloween 
“Please take off your mask”
He wanted to get to know 
Her true self or so he said 

~Did you ever let your lover see the stranger in yourself?~

Oh no not like that!
Truth failed to meet his desires
She put the mask on
He embraced her once again 
Claws unsheathed behind his back
