Silver minnows dart
Between the strands of eelgrass
Bullfrog takes a nap
Leaves ease from the trees
Blanket the forest with crunch
Squirrels gather nuts
The sky splits a seam
Rain sleets down on a bias
Mud threads the river

This triple haiku is written for dVerse’s prompt of using sewing words in a poem not about sewing. I included their suggested words: bias, dart, ease, gather, nap, and seam. I also added one of my own: threads. I’m trying to write better haiku by setting a scene and mood with simple images from nature while avoiding a lot of gerunds (“ing” words) and adjectives. The reader brings their own interpretation to my creation. A true haiku does not contain punctuation, and there are no capital letters, but starting a line with a lower-case letter makes me anxious, so I did use caps here.
I do like what you did there. And I love haikus!
